One More Time For Ray

I always thought it would end this way for Ray Lewis. He tore his triceps muscle in his right arm and will be out for the season. There had been a great deal of speculation that Lewis might retire after the season. Will his injury change his decision?

If he came back next year for an 18th season, he would be 38. Could he play a role like Junior Seau did with the Pats until he was 41? Ray always played flat out as a four-down linebacker. He went into this season 20 pounds lighter because he said he needed to maintain his speed. Did his weight loss play a factor?

NFL injuries can be very freaky.

If I had to give an opinion, I think Ray will be back next year. I don't think he wants to end his career this way. I know he would like to ride out and win a Super Bowl like Jerome Bettis and Michael Strahan. It might not be in the cards. I'm not sure how the final chapter will be written.

Whatever he decides to do, I think he has a great deal to offer.
