Going For Dennard

Coach Belichick is not about to listen to some of the crazy ideas that are tossed out on talk radio. Some people say some really ridiculous things. One caller suggested that Bill O'Brien left the team after last season  to take the head coaching job at Penn Sate because he felt that Tom Brady was losing his skills.

One idea that sounds logical is to give Alfonso Dennard more playing time in the secondary. The 7th round pick has played well when given the opportunities. He was projected to be as high as a 2nd round pick, but  slid because of an arrest shortly before the draft. The Pats were able to scoop him up.

There is no doubt that the secondary will help determine the fate of the season. Devin McCourty has struggled, but has the full endorsement of Coach Belichick. Ras-I Dowling continues to not live up to his expectation. Patrick Chung has played well, but still gets beaten on plays. Kyle Arrington and Sterling Moore have done ok, but maybe not enough to help the team get deep in the playoffs.

Barring a trade, the only other players out there are the street free agents. I like what I have seen so far of Dennard. It would be interesting to see if he plays more if the secondary continues to struggle.
