The Days of Izdik

While fans of the Pats lament their loss in the AFC Championship game, things could be so much worse. The team has come so far from their losing years of ownership under Victor Kiam and James Orthwein. You know things are going good when your biggest problem is losing the AFC title game.

I often feel bad for Jet fans. I love the team and have always followed them. Their new GM John Izdik has the challenge of his career ahead of him. He must co-exist with Coach Rex Ryan while trying to please owner Woody Johnson. Fans are outraged about missing the playoffs. Many fans were not even alive when the Jets played in Super Bowl III 44 years ago.

Like every team, there are decisions that must be made on players. What do you do about Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow? What about Darelle Reavis who has one year left on his contract? If Ryan has a losing season, will he get fired?

The New York media keeps it cooking year round. The fans are restless. They need to make the right decisions in the draft and free agency.

Having your future tied to Rex Ryan can be a challenge for anyone. The drama will continue in the Big Apple. I have my doubts about the Jets having a winning season in 2013.
