Low Socks

The NFL is always concerned about its image in the eyes of the public. They routinely issue fines for excessive hits. Marcus Pollard of the Ravens was fines $15,250 for a helmet to helmet hit on Wes Welker in the AFC Championship game. I wonder how they came up with that odd amount.

All of the money goes to NFL Charities. The players get a tax deduction and the league gives the appearance of containing some of the excessive violence.

They are also concerned about the uniforms of players and the protection of logos and trademarks. Players are fined for wearing apparel not from NIKE.

I think they were a bit excessive when they fined San Francisco 49er's RB Frank Gore $10,000 because he wore his socks too low in the NFC Championship game.

Every NFL game has representatives form the league office on the sidelines to ensure that all players conform with the proper uniform guidelines. The guy that caught Gore didn't miss anything.
