Rex Is Missing

Coach Rex Ryan once stated that he wanted to knock the Giants off the back page page of the New York tabloids. He certainly did that, but for all the wrong reasons.

First, they let go of GM Mike Tannenbaum after 17 years with the team, seven of them as GM. He paid a heavy price for the horrible contract he gave to Mark Sanchez. Ironically, Tannenbaum was hired by Bill Parcells in 1997 because of his expertise with the salary cap. However, the contract of Sanchez has put the Jets into a precarious situation with the salary cap for the next two seasons.

Rex had a press conference scheduled, but it was cancelled by the team. He has jetted off to the Bahamas. The Jets have violated league policy by not having Ryan give his end of the season press conference within a week of the team's last game. What' going on? Are more heads ready to roll? How can Offensive Coordinator Tony Sporano survive the purge?

The absence of Rex is giving the tabloids a field day.The circus is not only in town, but it's here for an extended engagement.
