Will Welker Walk?

The contract of Wes Welker has received too much attention. At this point, there are so many conflicting stories about what he intends to do. It appears that he will test free agency waters before doing anything. I think that move was inevitable. For some reason, the Pats and Welker have been unable to find common ground for a new contract.

I'm not sure what his market value is. Will he use any offers as leverage against the Pats? I have no doubt that there is some team out there that is willing to overpay for him. If that's the case, there is nothing the Pats can do about it. It seems that they have set a value for Welker and don't appear to be willing to go past that.

If he leaves for another team, he won't be the first player to do so. It will be a loss for the offense, but the team appears to be willing to move on without him.
