Shifting The Odds

People who wager on sports always pay attention to any change in the Las Vegas betting lines. Apparently, the loss of Wes Welker has shifted some of the numbers.

Prior to losing Welker, the Pats were 5 to 1 odds to win the Super Bowl. Now they are 7 to 1. Denver got a boost. Before signing Welker, they were 7 to 1 to win the AFC Championship. Now they are 5 to 1.

It doesn't really mean anything in the standings, but it's important to note that the odds-makers thought enough of the impact of Welker to change the numbers. Time will tell if Welker made a difference for either team.
