75 & Counting

The Pats created attention with the release of  receivers Donte Stallworth and Jabbar Gaffney. Does that mean they are done here for good here? Players move on and off the roster. Ross Ventrone was released. I think he lead the league last year in being signed and cut. The Pats were making personnel transactions on him almost every week.

If The Pats are done with Gaffy and Stallworth, will they be eating any signing bonus money? Some of those signing bonuses are contingent on making the roster. Every team has dead money from free agent signings that didn't pan out.

The Pats will cut another 22 players to get to the 53 man roster by the 4pm on Friday. We will have a better idea of what the season opening roster will look like. Will Brian Waters finally show up? Who goes to the practice squad? Will they claim any players on waivers? What about free agents?

As Coach Belichick often says, the opening day roster won't be the same one in December.
