Washing Their Hands

Former LSU CB Tyrann Mathieu will be drafted by a team one way or the other. His suspension from LSU because of drug use will drop him to a lower round in the draft and cost him a great deal of money. He has already punished himself with a financial hit.

LSU is not totally innocent in all of this. Mathieu admits to flunking at least ten drug tests. Coach Les Miles doesn't even know how many were failed. There are privacy issues involved, but the school's way of dealing with the problem was to kick him off the team.

Why did it take ten failed drug tests? What did the team do to help him? The easy way out was to suspend him. They never really helped him. They just washed their hands of the problem.
