The NFL gets the biggest amount of betting action with 42% of the $3.17 billion sports wagering industry in Nevada. MLB is far behind in second place at 18%.

A number of states have tried to get a piece of the action, but legislatures have been hesitant to pull the trigger. They have also faced a huge lobbying by the NFL to prevent it from happening.

In spite of it all, millions are wagered weekly during the season through bookies. It's interesting to see that the NFL blocks all of the legitimate attempts at wagering, but is powerless when it comes to the local bookie.

It doesn't look like anything will change soon.
