Ty Was Right

Ty Warren is lost for the season with a torn labrium. He opted for surgery which will keep him out for the year.

Some "experts" fail to realize that he has been battling this injury for the last three years. They blame his lack of attendance at the organized off-season workouts as being the cause of his injury as he was hurt after the second practice session.

Warren skipped the workouts to remain in Texas where he was working on finishing his degree at Texas A&M. He publicly stated that he was doing this because he was trying to prepare for life after the NFL.

Some feel that this was a waste of time and he should have been focused on football. I totally disagree with this thought. In fact, I give him a lot of credit for pursuing his degree. The NFL has a horrible record for graduation rates of its players. This was refreshing to see a player put emphasis on his education and to plan for a career after football.

So many people leave the game without a degree and skills necessary to live in the real world.
