Gone After 13 Seasons

You can't blame players for wanting to get another contract for more money. Sometimes, they have no choice. The Carolina Panthers parted ways with Steve Smith, their all-time leading receiver with 836 receptions for 12,977 yards.

He played 13 seasons for the Panthers after being drafted in the 3rd round in 2001. He will be turning 35 this year and counted $7 million against the salary cap. He declined an offer to renegotiate his contract for less money.

He signed a 3 year/ $11million contract with the Baltimore Ravens. He probably won't see all of that money. Such is the nature of NFL contracts.
