Selective Firings

I think the New York Giants are just rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic. Rather than fire Coach Tom Coughlin, they decided to have a few scapegoats.

Offensive Coordinator Kevin Gilbride was the first to feel the axe. Most thought that he would become a sacrificial lamb. Now they have fired Mike Pope their tight ends coach who has been with the team since the days of Bill Parcells. With 23 seasons, he was the longest tenured assistant coach in Giants history.

What made Pope expendable? Was it his age at 71? I don't think you solve too many problems by selectively firing people. Maybe, they should have just cleaned house.
