The Problem With PED's

The NFL continues to catch players using Performance Enhancement Drugs. It results in a four game suspension. It happened to Brandon Bolden and now it's Jermaine Cunningham's turn. His bout with PED's will also cost him four games during the final stretch of the regular season.

Privacy laws prohibit the NFL from identifying the substance. This puts the players at a disadvantage. The list of banned substances is very long. Some were legal in the past and available over the counter. Others were prescribed for conditions like Attention Deficit Disorder.

It gives the perception that the player was taking steroids or human growth hormone. That is so unfair. What was legal in the past is now a punishable offense. I feel the NFL really needs to tweak their PED policy. I don't think it's working the way it was intended.
