Parting Ways

Rumors are surfacing that QB Peyton Manning might try and practice before the season is over. His medical report has been optimistic about the fusion of vertebrae in his neck.

There is a lot on the line here. Manning is due a $28 million roster bonus at the start of the league's new business year in March. If they pay him, they could then trade him, but to who?

He has a very clouded future at the age of 35. The Colts face a public relations nightmare if they outright release a future Hall of Fame quarterback who has been the face of the franchise since 1998. However, he is not their future.

The most logical thing is for Manning to retire. With all of the money at stake, the issue of his future health becomes secondary for all sides involved. That is very unfortunate.

I always wonder when the clock will run on Tom Brady.
