It's hard to believe the demise of the season for the Indianapolis Colts. As the only 0-10 team in the league, they face the prospect of having the number one overall draft choice next April.
With the uncertainty of Peyton Manning, all signs look for the Colts to take a quarterback. Many think it will be Standford QB Andrew Luck. Colt's VP Bill Polian has already scouted Luck and spoken to Manning about their potential moves.
Nobody knows what the future holds for Manning. It will be at least another month before he can practice again. Many feel that he will never make it back onto the playing field.
Back in 1998, the Colts were facing the decision of whether to draft Manning or Ryan Leaf. The decision they made changed their franchise forever. Leaf was a big bust.
I'm not a big advocate of number one overall picks, but the Colts have reached the point where they need to take a drastic step.
I can't see Manning being a back-up to anyone. I hope he does the best thing and retires before he has any more damage to his neck.
