Bad Injuries

The Pats decided to place DL Mike Wright on Injured reserve after missing the last six games from the effects of a concussion.

Wright's injury must be quite serious for the team to make the move. The team has been silent on his condition other than to say that he was making progress.

There are degrees of concussions, but one has to wonder about the recent ones suffered by Dan Connelly and Danny Woodhead. Concussions seem to be part of the game, much like knee injuries.

However, this injury can have lifelong effects. Neurologists can administer tests to the player to determine any cognitive defect, but in the end, the true damage from a concussion might take many years to manifest itself.
