Just Another Player Arrested

The New York Jets can't seem to catch a break with some of their free agent signings. Last week, it started with the apparent retirement of QB David Garrard. Now, it's newly signed RB Mike Goodson who faces a weapons charge after a motor vehicle stop outside of New York City.

His car was found stopped in the left-center lane of Interstate 80 at 3:15am. A tow truck driver dialed 911  which resulted in Goodson and his passenger being arrested on an additional drug possession charge.

Goodson played three seasons for Carolina before spending 2012 with Oakland. He signed a three year/ $6.9 million deal with the Jets in March which included a $1 million signing bonus.

The Jets said they can't comment until the legal process is completed. No matter what happens, it looks like Goodson will get some type of suspension from the league.

Many free agent signings are a risk when considering the health of the player. It's hard to gauge whether a player has the potential to be arrested and ruin things for himself and the team. It often becomes a crap shoot.
