I have mixed feelings about NFL trades. I'm ok with getting Chad Ochocinco for a 5th round pick or Randy Moss for a 4th. I thought the Oakland Raiders paid too much to obtain disgruntled QB Carson Palmer from the Cincinnati Bengals.
They gave up a first rounder in the 2012 draft as well as a conditional 2nd round pick in 2013. That could become a first rounder if Palmer leads the team to the AFC Championship game in the next two years. I don't see that happening, but the Raiders are left with only a 5th and 6th round pick in the 2012 draft.
That doesn't effect the way the Raiders acquire players. They currently have 13 players on their roster who were once first round picks.
