Al and Bill

Coach Belichick has so many great stories when he has the time and desire to tell them. Today, he spoke about his relationship with Al Davis on his weekly interview on WEEI.

He mentioned spending 20 hours with Davis back in 1998 when he interviewed for the Raiders coaching job which ultimately went to John Gruden.

He referred to him as Coach Davis out of respect to his time as Head Coach and GM of the Raiders. They spoke on a regular basis and completed the Randy Moss and Richard Seymour deals.

Gruden would end up facing Belichick in the AFC Championship game after the 2001 season. That was the last game at Foxborough Stadium as well as the "snow game" and "Brady Tuck Rule".

We can only speculate what might have happened in the history of the Pats if Al Davis hired Belichick back in 1998. It would have change both franchises forever.
