There seem to be talk about a possible trade of DE Chase Winovich. He might be caught up in a numbers game. Maybe the Pats feel they can get a draft pick. It's better than releasing him during training camp.
I saw a breakdown of his contract. Guys like him earn less than $2 million for the season. Teams can always find a cheaper version with a younger player.
