The Way To Do Overtime
After watching UMass beat Appalachian State 30-27 in double overtime, I think the college game has the right idea when it comes to a tie score at the end of regulation.
Both teams had a chance from the 25 yard line. UMass took the ball and scored. App State did the same on their possession. The teams would get to possess the ball until a winner was decided.
App State got the ball on the second OT. A fumble resulted in a turnover. UMass won on a field goal.
This seems like a good way to decide the outcome, although the NFL will never adopt it. Television networks don't want the games to get longer. That's enough to kill the idea.
