Limited Time Only

The Pats are taking a salary cap hit with Aaron Hernandez and may end up owing him a few million dollars of guaranteed money which will probably go to his defense team.

One of their latest moves makes them look cheap. They are offering fans a chance to trade their Hernandez game jersey for another player's of comparable value. It must have been purchased at the team's pro-shop or on-line at a cost of over $100.

That seems pretty fair, but it can only be done at the pro-shop on the weekend of July 6th & 7th. No other options are available. Shirts bought prior to the 2011 season when Hernandez wore #85 are not eligible.

I'm not sure why there is such a small window. You would think that a team worth almost a billion dollars could swallow the cost of a few shirts. They must be mad that they had to remove all of the Hernandez merchandise from the shelves after his arrest and release by the team.

I hope they give fans more time. Otherwise they are nickel and diming them.
