Getting Richer

Players, coaches and fans are at the mercy of the NFL schedule. Some of it doesn't make sense with playing on Sunday and then on Thursday.

The only reason behind the schedule is the $3.1 billion that the teams will receive for broadcast rights in 2014. Players get a big chunk of the revenue which drives salaries higher and increases the value of the teams.

As a result, several NFL teams are among the wealthiest professional sports franchises in the world according to Forbes magazine. The Dallas Cowboys top the list with a value of $4 billion, followed by the Pats with a worth of $3.2 billion and the Washington Redskins at $2.85 billion.

The league continues to find new revenue streams which will only increase salaries and the value of the teams.
