Choosing Their Concerns

Congress can never get anything accomplished, but that didn't stop 50 Senators from jumping on the band wagon for the Washington Redskin name controversy. They sent a letter to team owner Dan Snyder asking him to change the name which some feel is offensive to Native Americans.

I understand the need to have dialogue on this issue. Snyder had dug his heels and refuses to change the name. He appears to be in it for the long haul.

My bigger issue is with the Senators who are so concerned. There are so many critical problems facing this country While this controversy has merit, they should be embarrassed at their attempt to get into the spotlight.
