Staying Put

We hear that infamous line where a player says he wants to be with their team for life. Sometimes, it works against them during contract negotiations.

Muhammad Wilkerson has mentioned those comments about his tenure with the New York Jets. The team has an option to pick up the fifth year of his rookie contract or give him a long term deal.

They can have him for cheap money for 2014 if they want to. He said that he will not hold out during training camp no matter what the team decides to do. He wants to be a Jet for life.

I admire him for his desire to stay with the team for his entire career, but they might take the decision away from him.
