A Time of Silence

Jason Pierre-Paul is playing a game of chicken with the New York Giants when it comes to his hand and finger injury from fireworks. He has not signed his $14.8 million franchise tender or allowed team officials to visit him in the hospital. He is making all of his own medical decisions.

He had his right index finger amputated without consulting with team doctors. He fractured his thumb and needed skin grafts for his burns. The team has no clue about his availability for the upcoming season. The entire situation is a mess.

It's unknown whether Pierre-Paul will regain his former playing level. He will forever be held as an example of a player making bad decisions off the field.
