Steve Grogan #14 Kansas Sate

I met former Pats QB Steve Grogan at Gillette Stadium today as part of the UMass/Eastern Michigan game. Every UMass game at Gillette has a former Pats player up in the Club Seats. They sign photos and pose with fans. I've met Steve Nelson, Pete Brock, John Smith, Geno Cappaletti and others.

Grogan was the heart and soul of the team during his career which spanned from 1975-1990. He was the ultimate warrior and fought all competition for his job.

There are so many great memories I have of him. He played until he was 37 before his body gave out. He had neck vertebrae issues like Peyton Manning. At the peak of his career, he was earning $600,000.

The game was different back then for quarterbacks. He took a real beating. I wonder how many concussions he had. They didn't keep track of them back then.
