Time For Slater & Edelman

CB Ras-I Dowling has been placed on IR with a season ending injury for the second consecutive season. It doesn't bode well for his future with the team. He played in only two games last year before going on IR on October 29th with a hip injury. Now, he is out with tear in his thigh muscle.

It remains to be seen whether the team wants to go forward with him next season. He has a four year contract after being the first pick in the second round of the 2011 draft. He came here with great credentials and started the first two games last season.

Will the team go after a free agent or is it time for Matthew Slater and Julien Edeleman to play defense again? It was good enough to get them to the Super Bowl last year, but fans are growing weary of not having a shut-down corner. This is the perfect opportunity for Alfonzo Dennard to step into his spot. He has played well when called upon.

Unfortunately, we will be hearing more talk about the defensive secondary. If the Pats don't go to the Super Bowl, we will keep hearing this during the off-season.
